The Food Groupie Club

Hi my name is Sarah and I'm addicted to food. I have been a chef professionally for about 12 years now and am currently teaching cooking classes at a culinary school. I seriously love to cook and eat good food. The problem with cooking and eating like the professionals though is that it can be kind of intimidating for a home food enthusiast. My goal is to bring good food into every-day homes. Anyone can make healthy, good quality, good tasting, and good looking food with the right know-how. So here you go....cooking made easy by a professional!

I will be featuring some of my favorite chef's recipes in my posts and will note in the post what book was used. Their books that I use will be listed in my must have cookbooks tab.

My Favorite Cookbooks

Here is a list of some of my favorite cookbooks. I will probably use these a lot in my posting. If you are interested in buying any of these Amazon.com. is the cheapest place to get ALL cookbooks.

Thomas Keller Books

Ad Hoc at Home {can get this one used as low as 16.99}
This book focuses more on casual home style eating.  Keller's French Laundry Restaurant is pretty fancy, but even fancy chef's still eat casually at home. This also gives a lot of tips about different cooking methods and how to work with certain products. I would recommend this one for the home cook who is looking to branch out with their cooking, but doesn't have the confidence yet to do the fancy stuff.

Bouchon {can get this one used as low as 21.00}
Bouchon is actually a Keller restaurant that is modeled after eating at a French Bistro. If you love bistro food, you'll love this book.  T.K. actaully jokes in this book that he started this restaurant so he would have a place to eat after working at the Laundry all day.

The French Laundry Cookbook  {can get this one used as low as 22.00)
This is his claim to fame restaurant. This is the fun fancy stuff. Recipes in here are more for the advanced cook, but are still very doable by the more novice cook. He really does a good job explaining things to make it not so complicated.

Bouchon Bakery {purchase on amazon.com} The release of this book was the absolute best thing to happen to me in 2012.

Alice Waters

The Art Of Simple Food
Alice Waters is best known for using fresh, local foods and making simple things taste amazing. This is a great, easy to follow book.
